René was born an artist, and was drawing pictures on her Mum’s walls every time she was left unattended. She spent her entire childhood immersed in a dreamworld of collage, painting and drawing African animals. Art Club after school, turned into paper maché at weekends, and drawing for days on end.

René went on to do her MA at the Royal College of Art, and has been working as a Print Designer for companies from Debenhams,  Marks and Spencer and Age of Reason for the past ten years. René  wants to share a sense of that artistic raw energy that makes art so exciting and unique. René wrote her MA dissertation about the beauty of imperfection and Wabi Sabi. In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete".

‘I firmly believe that when we’re having fun, and creating art out of joy, our products carry that energy with them into your home

René has always been a creative rebel, and likes to draw on her love of Art Deco and her childhood as inspiration for her ranges. Travel is a huge part of her life; René was born in South Africa, so the unspoilt and wild freedom of Africa runs through her veins. Her own home is an eclectic 1930’s seaside abode with African Crafts, pops of bold colour, and artworks that each have a significant meaning in her life.

René chooses to celebrate creativity in all its abundance, and loves layering pieces to create instant styling in the home. A maximalist approach of mixing, print colour and texture to bring joy and individuality to your home.

'We want to instill our customers with the confidence to be creative in their own homes, and to have a fearless approach to styling their homes with art, plants and colour.'

Each Art Print is signed by René, and is limited to an edition of 30.
